Friday, December 5th

Gooood morning everyone. We started the day by watching the kayakers (I know, this is getting repetitive), over yogurt and fruit on the lanai. One of the house geckos supervised our breakfast.

Onward to the Maui Ocean Center, where we had a blast visiting with our fish friends. We saw leaf fish, lobsters, jellies, turtles, and....baby turtles! This must be the happiest place on earth.

This fish is called the unicorn fish, but we think he should be named Pinocchio.

This a pair of leaf fishes. Look for the eye on the white fish in front and you should be able to find the rest of their features.

This is the world's ugliest crab, and a baby lobster.

A seahorse and a BIG jelly fish:

Heeeeeere's Jerry, waving from the turtle exhibit. Is he in there with them? Or are they flying overhead?

I spent some quality time with my turtle buddies, and yes, those are BABY turtles. Awwwwwww!

And of course we enjoyed the eagle rays:

After the aquarium we had lunch at Buzz's Wharf in Maalalea, which is a tradition for us. Coconut shrimp and a Bellini for me, fish and chips and a beer for Jerry, followed by their famous mango creme brule. Life is good.

After a nice long nap, we joined the group poolside for a feast of shrimp and salad. After dinner we took a walk on the beach, and stopped to chat with one of the local fishermen. He caught two critters he had to throw back - both were baby hammerhead sharks, about a foot long. As many years as we've snorkeled here, we've never seen one (except in the aquarium). Who knew?

Today's book count: Halfway through Patricia Cornwell's Day of the Dead.

After dinner I fiddled around with some long exposure shots. Here's a good one to end the day.
