Tuesday, December 2nd

Greetings from paradise!

We began the day with oatmeal and fruit on our lanai, watching the kayakers paddle back and forth. There have been big, big waves, so we headed to the north side to watch the surfers. On the way out the door, I (thought I) started the dishwasher. This is important, keep reading.

There are enormous waves and it's still overcast. It was amazing watching the surfers, who apparently have no fear!

Are there any botanists out there who can identify this tree? We're pretty sure these aren't grapes.

Big, scary waves - and surfers having a heck of a time. We drove around a bit, then came home for lunch. Darn, I thought I ran those dishes! Oh, okay, it's a two-button deal. Start already. As I was slicing fresh pineapple for our teriyaki burgers, the dishwasher started the drain cycle, and suddenly I was up to my ankles in water. What the...! Apparently when the owners were here in November, they made some "improvements". They forgot to clamp the drain hose to the dishwasher. Wonderful. We waitied until almost 5 for the repair guy - and we recognized him from a few years ago when he swooped in on us and delivered a new refrigerator. Small world.

After a nice walk on the beach, and an awesome sunset, I cooked up a batch of fajitas; Jerry was in charge of the margaritas. Ole!

Today's gecko count: 0. I'm officially worried.
Today's book count: Finished James Patterson's The Fifth Horseman.
